Dr Jeremy Marriott

Dr Marriott went to Medical School in Birmingham. After his training he worked mainly in the North West, but spent 15 months in Auckland, New Zealand. His interests in the practice include musculoskeletal problems, Travel Medicine and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. He has been a partner at Queen Square since 1992.  He is Chair of the Urgent Care Board for the Lancashire North CCG.

Dr Alison Bateman

Dr Bateman was brought up in Manchester, and trained in Sheffield. After a spell working in New Zealand, she completed her GP training in Glasgow, before moving to Lancaster, where she has been with the practice since 1994.

In 2008 Dr Bateman completed a Gynaecology Diploma for Practitioners with a Special Interest.  Following this we launched the Healthub gynaecology, infertility and sexual health services, which now take referrals from other practices in the area.

Dr Nick Johnstone

Dr Johnstone was brought up in Bradford, and trained in Dundee. After working as a Medical Officer in the Antarctic for a year he moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where he met his wife, Dr Bateman.  

He has been a partner since 1994. His main interest is Mental Health. He worked with the CCG commissioning Mental Health Services for a number of years, and now does a session with the Central Lancashire Eating Disorders Unit.

Dr Martin Soole

Dr Martin Soole grew up in London and trained at the Royal London Hospital. He eventually arrived in Lancaster after over twenty years working as a Partner in both single-handed and group practices in London and Nottingham.

His particular interest is Dermatology. He joined Queen Square Medical Practice as a Partner in February 2010.

Dr Helen Connell

Dr Helen Connell was born and bred in Derbyshire. She joined Queen Square medical practice in May 2001 and became a partner in April 2010.  

She is a Practitioner with a special interest in genitourinary medicine and gynaecology/infertility. She completed a gynaecology diploma in 2012 and has joined Dr Bateman in her role in providing specialist GUM and gynae/fertility services to local patients at the Healthub.

Dr Brandon John

Dr John grew up in Manchester. He went to medical school in Sheffield and then came to Lancaster to do his GP training.  Dr John joined Queen Square in 2010 and was made partner in 2012.

He has recently qualified as a GP trainer and looks after Registrars placed at Queen Square.

Dr Sam Moon

Dr Moon joined Queen Square in December 2012 and was made partner in September 2013. He studied Medicine at the University of Birmingham and completed his general practice training in the West Midlands.

He spent 5 years living and working in New Zealand.  His clinical interests are sport and exercise medicine and minor surgery. Dr Moon leads on Research within the practice.

Dr Rachel Woolley

Dr Woolley grew up in Kendal, studied French & Philosophy in Edinburgh before changing tack to study Medicine at Manchester University.

She worked in hospital medicine for 4 years before deciding to become a GP.  She is the palliative care lead for the practice. Dr Woolley became a partner at the beginning of 2015.


Dr Patrick Haslam

Dr Haslam initially studied Acoustical Engineering in Southampton before training in medicine in London at Bart's & The London Medical School.

After working in Somerset he completed his GP training in Lancaster and was the Registrar at Queen Square after which is he was made Partner.  He also sees patients in Respiratory out-patients for the local Hospital Trust.

Dr Robbie Whittaker

Dr Whittaker joined the practice in 2018 as a Partner following completion of his GP training within the practice.

Associate GP's

Dr Chaturvedi Vare

Dr Vare qualified in India and has been working in the UK since 2005. He has experience of working in various surgical specialities in Manchester. He completed his GP training in Lancaster. Dr Vare joined the surgery in October 2014 as an associate GP.

Dr Fiona Stuart

Dr Stuart was previously a partner for a number of years at a practice in the South of England before moving to Lancaster.

She has been an associate GP at Queen Square since August 2002.  She has special interest in family planning and genito-urinary medicine.

Dr Catherine Traynor

Dr Traynor grew up in Hull. She qualified in 2014 having trained in Liverpool. She has three young boys. She joined Queen Square Medical Practice in January 2018 as an Associate GP.
