At Queen Square we have three nurses who work with Dr Moon to co-ordinate a large amount of research in Lancaster & Morecambe. We work closely with the Clinical Research Network and Lancaster University in both Primary research but also recruiting for larger studies from across the country.
In 2016 we won the RCGP/National Institute for Health Research 'Practice Award' and in 2017 we have won the Northwest Coast Clinical Research Network 'Research Team of the Year' award.
There is a great opportunity to get involved with Primary Care research at Queen Square, not only participating in ongoing national research but also pursuing your own field of interest.
Gynaecology, Fertility & Sexual Health
We operate a Tier 2 Gynaecology and Fertility service at our Health Hub site. Currently Dr Bateman and Dr Connell see patients referred from local practices with infertility, incontinence and various gynaecology problems.
Fertility patients can be fully investigated within this clinic and if appropriate they can be prescribed clomifene for ovulation induction, monitored by ultrasound scanning. There is a streamlined protocol for onward referral for assisted fertility if required. Dr Bateman works closely with CARE fertility services in Manchester providing a local scanning service to appropriate NHS patients as part of this service.
Queen Square runs a sexual health clinic once weekly from the Health hub site as part of a primary care led sexual health service. There is the facility to test and treat sexually transmitted infections as well as offering peace of mind checks. This is a fantastic opportunity for any new Doctor who wishes to develop their skills in this area and get involved with the clinics.
We also run a Community Dermatology Service from our Health Hub site. Patients can be referred into to see Dr Soole or Dr Sidhu (previously a Partner at Queen Square) at the clinic for a large selection of skin conditions.
Should any new Doctor wish to become a GPwSI in Dermatology then we would love to get you involved with our community clinic.
We offer a private Travel Clinic for advice and vaccinations. There is plenty of information available at www.healthub.org.uk. The clinic is nurse-led and overseen by Dr Marriott.
Queen Square is a partner in the Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network (MBRN). The MBRN is an integrated service for patients with respiratory disease in Morecambe Bay.
Dr Haslam is the clinical lead for the MBRN and runs an in-house respiratory clinic for patients at Queen Square.
